  1. Daily Cleaning: Empty waste bins and wipe out.

Vacuum throughout.

Shake out cushions.

Clean dining rooms / lounges / lavatories.

Clean taps and sinks.

Clean soap dishes.

Clean toothbrush holders.

Spot clean all floorings.

  1. Weekly Cleaning: Polish all mirrors.

Clean all pipework in lavatories.

Dust handrails and radiators.

Move all mobile furniture (including beds and chairs) and vacuum and dust beneath / behind.

Wash out metal waste paper bins.

Dust and polish furniture and windowsills.

Wash lino floors.

Shampoo carpets as requested by Home Manager.

  1. Week One: Dust light bulbs and fittings.

Week Two: Dust curtain rails.

Week Three: Dust pictures.

Week Four: En-suites - remove seat cushions and vacuum / clear out.

  1. Restock toiletries, soaps, towels etc. as and when required.


  1. Participate in Staff and Client meetings as required.

Training & Development:

  1. Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
  2. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.

Health & Safety:

  1. Adhere to the Care Centre's disposal of waste policy.
  2. Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Client, colleague, self or another.
  3. Understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Centre's Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
  4. Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
  5. Promote safe working practice in the Care Centre.


  1. Promote and ensure the good reputation of the Care Centre.
  2. Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.
  3. Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence.
  4. Ensure the security of the Care Centre is maintained at all times.
  5. Adhere to all Company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.
  6. Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
  7. Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.


  1. All staff, are in the front line in preventing harm or abuse occurring and in taking action where concerns arise. Protection, Prevention and Personalisation are the cornerstones to protecting adults at risk of harm.
  2. Understand and ensure that the home's Safeguarding Policy and Procedure is adhered to at all times.
  3. Inform residents of their rights to be free from abuse and support them to exercise these rights, including providing access to advocacy where required. Staff should ensure residents are aware of how to raise concerns of abuse. 
  4. Promote empowerment and choice and support residents to manage risks.
  5. Develop the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to recognise trigger behaviours that presents a risk for each individual and to others, and know how to identify, report and respond appropriately to suspected or actual abuse.
